[Outside Whole Foods at Fresh Pond; 11/5/11]
The walking meetup group walks around Fresh Pond in Cambridge once a month. The group meets across from the pond, outside the bustling Whole Foods market, where busy local liberals vie for spaces in the notoriously nightmarish parking lot and then take out their frustrations via shopping carts inside the store.
I haven't been on a walk with the group since probably last spring, and not since I hurt my back in June. When I first moved here, I went on various walks every weekend, making friends with the group leader and his girlfriend (now wife - we went to their wedding) and many regulars. D has come out on a few walks over the years, and I've done a couple when I've had time free, but it's not very often. So when this event came up this weekend, so close by, I figured I should take advantage of the opportunity, despite my load of things I need to do (see previous post). I'm also meeting up with a friend for dinner tonight, all of which is making me a happier camper, albeit one camping in an unkempt house with a pile of project work staring at me.
The day turned out to be gloriously bright and sunny. The perimeter road was filled with walkers and joggers -- and lots of dogs enjoying their time in the sun, as I expect most spend weekdays couped up at home while their owners are working. Come to think of it, we are all mostly couped up indoors so much of the time. If we can't get out on weekends and frolick a little, how could we ever stand it?
That looks very enjoyable, and I do like to see a dog in sensible control of a car.
