On Tuesday around lunchtime, the warming air turned what had been fairy-dust snowfall into a feather pillow fight of enormous fat flakes. A friend who was driving in it told me it made him giggle the flakes were so big. I pulled my coat on and ran out to walk in it, but the feathers quickly turned to pelting sleet and then to drizzle. Still, it was fun while it lasted.

The forecast calls for more snow overnight and into the morning - up to 8 inches. While I missed the first snowstorm of the year, trapped as I was away from home during the Christmas blizzard that shut down airports, I've been home for all the latest. We are apparently in a snowy weather pattern. After the snow stops tomorrow, the deep freeze follows. Sunday night's low is predicted to be -7°F (-22°C). Yes, the holidays are over, and now the real winter stretches ahead.
Still, we are lucky to have lots of blue sky and sunshine around here in between snowfalls. The daylight grows longer.
Whee!

I like the idea of the feather pillow fight!
Stay warm.

Yesterday in Keene, we had a spell where it was mostly sunny and blue-skied, but there were flurries falling. It was strange to see snowflakes falling from "nowhere," as there were only a few puffy white clouds in the sky, and none of them were directly overhead.
It's been a weird winter.
