[Parking lot, Concord Ave, Belmont MA; 10/28/10]
I slipped the bonds of my desk yesterday afternoon for a few moments to wander free in the unseasonably warm weather, grabbing my camera and tucking it in my purse at the last minute. I've been working on deadline for the past week or so and we're heading into busy season. I've been a bit spoiled much of the year on projects with ample schedules, letting me actually enjoy my work a reasonable amount of the time. But the return of arm pain, which actually preceded deadline pressures but now along with that stress, has brought a familiar sour taste of past misery. I left work last Friday injected with a shot of anxiety that stayed with me through the weekend after touching base with a colleage on my project who, God love her, rips through work like a well-oiled machine. She'd neatly and precisely completed her piece of the project while I was still struggling to wrestle the first half of my part down. Fortunately, she's a lovely person, and this week she picked up a couple more pieces of the project to quickly dispatch so that we could meet yesterday's milestone.
But anyway. So I finished my work, all but tweaks and patching some holes, and took a walk up to town where the farmer's market runs on Thursday afternoons. A lot of the warm-weather produce is gone, but I found some good tomatoes and some locally made raviolis to bring home. I also took a turn around the block and saw some lovely foliage before heading back to work.
Congrats on the work deadline! ('I love deadlines, I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.' Douglas Adams)
I love the first picture. It reminds me of the movie Pleasantville; it's got that level of contrast. Beautiful.
(The second reminds me of the view from the house I grew up in, except the view was of Hartford.)

Nothing like meeting a deadline and putting it behind you. It's funny how work ebbs and flows. The walk sounds invigorating and the view very pleasant.

I was thinking of you and this post while out for an appointment in a neighbourhood exceptionally full of colourful trees. I took some photos and will have to check how they turned out. Sorry those work deadlines were giving you pain, glad that's over for now! Have a restful and colour-filled weekend, Leslee.

What a great reward for completing the tasks.
Frost and a bit of breeze and those glorious colours will turn to mush. You captured them just in time.

Em: Thanks (love the Douglas Adams quote) - and what a great view you must have had from your house!
Roberta: Mostly the work flows - in fact, inundates. I've been lucky to have a bit of ebb this year.
Marja-Leena: Thank you. Hope your photos turned out! (I'm behind in my blog-reading, so I'll have to check in this week.)
RR: Yes, I'm afraid all this luscious October color will be November mush very soon.
