[Pequosette Field, Belmont MA; 2:30pm, 12/21/08]
On top of the 9 to 10 inches of snow we had from Friday night's storm (and it kept snowing lightly all day Saturday), we got another 4 or 5 inches yesterday. It was warmer yesterday, making the snow heavy and sticky. I shoveled again before dinnertime and the pile that the plow left at the end of my driveway reminded me of those rockpiles you see prisoners hefting in old movies. It was sleeting. I'd wrapped my elbow, but the tendonitis was not happy. Seeing my landlords coming down the street with the snowthrower - that was happiness. They'd been out shoveling steps and blowing snow for a good couple of hours, and they're not young. So I commiserated with S. about how heavy the snow was. Her response: "Well, it's good for snowmen!" They amaze me.
It's about 15°F this morning, with a wind chill of 0°F. No snow, though. I'm keeping an eye on Wednesday's forecast, since I'm flying out that afternoon to see my dad. Right now they're predicting a rain/snow mix.
I do miss snow. It used to snow here.
Wind chill in single digits all day here in sunny VA, with temperatures to follow tonight.

Still only an inch here. I am so jealous. I'd love an excuse to break out the snowshoes.
Hope the weather cooperates for your trip.

we are covered under a thick winter blanket of snow, house-bound and a little bored, but it is lovely to look at. poor travelers at our airport are having a hard time, indeed. some have been perched there for 3 days trying to get out. planes are now flying, but they are full so there's no room for those who were stranded over the weekend. more snow is due in wed - fri and some of that is likely to be a wintry mix. hope you are not headed to the pacific nw or you will find more of what you are looking at there. safe winds in your travels and happy holidays.

Thanks, all. The forecast is for cold rain, about 37°F, just above freezing for flight time. About the same or snow showers in Michigan. Not exactly balmy, but no storms and seems flyable. Will check in...
