[Porch perch, just down the street from my place; 6pm, 8/24/08]
This little guy seems pretty quiet and friendly for a terrier, who are usually, well, territorial. I walked by the house last week at the same time a lady was walking by with her own little dog and this guy just stood in the doorway wagging his tail. Reminds me a little of my own quiet and good-natured dog, not so much friendly (rather uninterested in anyone but "her own" humans) as brightly curious. On my last walk the other night, I passed an old lady sitting on her curb with a month-old puppy on a leash. Everyone who walked by stopped to pat the puppy, who was overjoyed by each new human coming down the walkway. I'm sure it's also the most attention the old woman had in a long time. Just one of the benefits of having a dog when you're older.
As I've mentioned, I can't have one here and it's just as well since I'm not home enough. And I'm allergic to cats, so my houseplants have to do as household living things for now. I did go over and walk Ingrid for K late the other night when she and J were away. It satisfied.
Great shots! How are you liking your new camera? That second photo looks like you have a "step-cat" (my term for my upstairs neighbor's cats, who sometimes sneak into my apartment to claim their "visitation rights").

I'm liking it - still getting used to the settings, but I've been pleased with the quality of the images. Haven't figured out how to get the upload software to sort into folders the way I like, but I haven't spent any time on it.
The cat was in Watertown (I'm right on the line) on someone else's steps. No idea if they belonged to him, but a lot of cats consider all the world theirs, no?

Well, it's still a cat on a step, so thus a step-cat. And yes, the world belongs to cats; we're just visiting. ;-)

I like the look the cat is giving you, complete disinterest.
Have you been following the Democratic Convention at all? I've been watching the speeches the past few nights and they've been pretty good I think.

Cats do disinterest so well ..... glad you still have regular dogwalking duties as well.

My 12-year-old son wants a cat so badly, but he and I are severely allergic to them. I had one growing up; my parents thought only that I was unusually prone to colds.
I hope one day he can have a cat. It would do him good.

MM: Well, not regular - this was actually the first time since I moved the beginning of July. Hoping to see her (and K) tomorrow.
Peter: Oh, it's tough. I understand that someone has bred hypoallergenic cats, but they're very expensive. Maybe they'll come down in price, though, some day.
