And the forecast for this evening...
Tonight: snow this evening, then a chance of snow after midnight. Total snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. Lows in the mid 20s. North winds around 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph this evening. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
At this point, it's not pretty anymore, it's just a PITA. I ran down to the office this morning and brought a bunch of work home, so I've been ensconced in my not-so-warm home office space all day wearing several layers of clothing (alas, it's close to a drafty window... must rethink getting a new laptop so I'm not tied to the desk).
Anyway, I'm in for the duration -- which means only until tomorrow when it's supposed to be clear, and warmer on Sunday (but snow-rain mix forecast for Tuesday).
Maybe I'll try out the new appliance that K gave me for taking care of Ingrid when K was away Ingrid gave me tonight...
Oh boy, that gadget Ingrid gave you is the perfect tool to make working at home in the cold bearable....
I was checking the weather in Madison, WI, Boston, MA (places where my sons are)... and it looks bad in both places, as it will here too, come tomorrow, when we are due for some 2 to 4 inches of rain and wind gusting up to 60 miles per hour. I bought some more yarn and am preparing to settle in for a long night tomorrow when the power is likely to go out.
It has been some winter, hasn't it?

I know it must now be a pain for you all out there, but from where I'm sitting, in snowless London, it sure looks pretty in the photos!

At least this snow was just snow, so it shouldn't be too difficult to clean up. Those previous snowstorms that involved ice & freezing rain were a real pain. And then there's Keene, where the sidewalks are still impassable from inches of frozen SLUSH from the 24+ straight hours of wintry mix we had the week before last...and that was before yesterday's snow accumulated on top of that.
Yes, definitely a PITA. Remind us all again why we live here?

Maria: We finally tried it out - it was definitely entertaining! And fast. I had an accident with a corkscrew once (well, bad cork and bad bottle - broke in half when I pulled the cork using a waiter's corkscrew), so it's a nice thing to have a (presumably) safe one.
Planethalder: Yes, it is pretty. We like to have it on the trees and lawns, not so much on the streets.
Lorianne: Why so we live here... This time of year that question comes up more than at any other time.
