[Boston Public Garden; 12:15pm, 12/8/07]
I walked with a Boston-area walking meetup group today in the city, hooking up at North Station and walking the Rose Kennedy Greenway, a series of parks and public spaces that replace the Central Artery as part of the Big Dig project, down to Chinatown. It didn't take very long, so we walked over to the Public Garden and circled there a few times before we'd put in the requisite two hours (the general rule for the walking group) and then walked back to Chinatown for dim sum. We ate at the Empire Garden, a converted old theater, huge and packed. It helped that one of the people in our group of 11 or 12 was Chinese and could tell us what was in all the little plates that ended up on our table. My stomach was a little funky today, so I nibbled a few gelatinous things, ordered a bowl of hot and sour soup, and drank tea. Oh, and a nice sweet coconut filled pastry.

The people in the group were very nice and interesting. It's the first time I've met with this group and I'll definitely go again. The Rose Kennedy Greenway - well, it may need some time yet. A lot of it seemed unfinished. Maybe it looks better in the warm weather, but given that it's cold here a good portion of the year, it needs to work all-season - like the Public Garden, which is lovely all year round. But the walk was interesting - it looks very different down by the waterfront these days.

I got home this afternoon and napped, walked the dog, and then went out to meet a friend in Harvard Square for dinner tonight. Busy day, but fun. Tomorrow will be quieter, with things to do around the house. K is due back from NY by dinnertime and we're supposed to go get our Christmas tree, but it will depend on the weather -- they're predicting "wintry mix" -- never a good thing. We'll have to see what it really turns into.
Sounds good. I love the light in the last photo.
