Appropriate that the lower numbers are falling off...
We get half a day off for birthdays, so I returned to work this morning after an extra-long weekend and got to leave again after a few hours. I booked a facial at a place down the street, and K is taking me out for dinner later. E-cards and emails have been arriving with good wishes, along with a couple of phone calls. They've lightened this wet, somber day considerably, though I'm also glad for the relative gloom and the sound of the rain because I'm in a pensive mood...
---
A couple of weeks ago when I was on a business trip, I introduced myself to the clients and noted that while I'd been with the company only a year, I have 25 years of experience as an instructional designer and writer, blah blah blah. In the car on the way back, one of my colleagues asked, "How old are you?" They all thought I was in my 30s. Heh.
Heh heh.
(It's my age too, as of a few weeks...)

How about 35 going on 29? Who's counting, after all? I hope you enjoyed the facial & have a great dinner tonight.

Thanks, all! Had a fab dinner at a local bistro that could easily become my favorite.
Planethalder: Yup, I enlightened them. Nice to look young, but even better to get a little more respect those who thought they were my elders!

In my family (not growing up, my kids & I) we sing an alternate birthday song. It has a pretty little melody and goes like this:
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
We love you
Happy Birthday and may all your
Dreams come true
When you blow out the candles
One light stays aglow
It's the lovelight in your eyes
Wherever you go
Wishing you all the best in the coming year!

Thanks, Tim! Very sweet. And very different from the alternative version my friends like to sing, which goes (sung as a dirge):
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Sin and sorrow and despair
People dying everywhere
Happy Birthday
At least it never fails to make me laugh.

I think 49 is a splendid age. Enjoy your 50th year...

Hi Bob! Wished you happy bday on your blog (although I think I was premature in wishing "belated" happy birthday - I'm clearly in a time warp). Will catch up with your photos this weekend - from the few I saw, it looked like an amazing artist-fest!
Thanks, Planethalder! That's s meme I have no trouble doing - soon as I have time, like this weekend.
Thanks, TG. But geez, did ya hafta remind me that this is my 50th year?! I'm trying to enjoy being only 49. :-)
