[On Walden Pond; February 18, 2007]
Less than a month ago, I saw someone swimming laps here. Yesterday I was here with friends and we saw cross country skiers out skimming the surface. Though it was sunny, it was very cold and the wind out on the pond would have brought it down considerably. The path circling the perimeter was somewhat protected from the wind. That and the effort of walking on the snow, which gave way like beach sand, kept us reasonably warm as we spent about an hour circling the pond before heading off for an early dinner. I can still feel the warm blast of garlic and focaccia scented air that greeted us at the door at Papa Razzi. Yum.
That's a striking photo. It gives a feeling of infinity.

Love the shot. Is that a small twig hanging on in the middle?

Thanks, Teju. Walden forever.
Keith: Yes, it is a dangling piece of twig! I guess if I had PhotoShop I'd have removed it, but what I saw is what you get!

Once again Leslee, your pictography is exquisite...

I like the twig. Somehow hanging on despite no visible sign of support.

Thanks, Bob.
Keith: Heh. I can relate. ;-)
