I had a lovely sociable weekend. A date over for a little cookout on my deck on Saturday afternoon after I'd planted all my annuals in my window boxes. Sunday up to New Hampshire to hang out with a bunch of friends at a cabin on a lake, cooking up a Southwestern feast and swilling frozen margaritas. And this morning on the way back I stopped by for a short hike with Lorianne and Reggie the wonder dog, followed by lunch under bumblebee-filled white wisteria in a courtyard cafe. At the end of an excessively rainy May, we are all high on sunshine and warm temperatures and celebrating the start of the oh-so-brief New England summer.
While floating atop this happy current, beneath the surface lots of confused emotions are stirring over the future direction of my life. I should hear by the end of this week about a full-time job (again), which would make a major change in my life and lifestyle should I get an offer and should I take it. In the meantime multiple other possibilities for freelance work are dangled before me, none of them solid although there are many more than at any other time in 13 years of being on my own. My love life also keeps taking unexpected turns, not unhappily but unsettling nonetheless. It's all very fluid and strange...
Lovely weekend words and photos, Leslee. Here we are only today starting to dry up after an exceptionally wet week while I'm antsy about getting my gardening done! Wishing you well with the many decisions facing you ahead!

Gorgeous photos. One decision at a time ... all the best.

It's neat to think of you and Lorianne as friends.

Fluidity is better than being stuck, I think. Good luck with all this. Sounds like you've got some interesting options, or at least interesting movement!

Thanks, Marja-Leena: Hope you have a lovely June!
Mary: Yeah, one decision at a time, one step at a time. I have a hard time with this.
Christine: Thanks. I'm not sure I'm clear anymore where I want to go, now that the waters have been stirred up! Guess it's one of those "surf with the current" moments.
Peter: I think so, too!
MB: Absolutely, way better than being stuck. I'll take this any day.

The history of perfume goes back to Egypt, although it was prevalent in East Asia as well. Early perfumes were based on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients.
Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs. Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates outside of their indigenous Asia.
