More photos, in lieu of something to say. I've been thinking, and reading, as well as getting back into work after the break. Today it's snowing heavily, by which I mean the snow is heavy and wet. Good snowball snow, snowman snow, possibly even Klister snow, if you're a cross country skier. (Nasty stuff. I put some on at a ski touring center once and had to have them take it off with a blow torch. Seriously.) The kids in the neighborhood must be off from school as they're sledding down the hill across the street, against condo rules. Good for them! They've also been banned from climbing the trees. It used to make me smile this summer when I saw the neighbor boys hanging out in the tree across from my place. Expense, danger, liability... Snort. Cranky old people.
Well, so much for "in lieu of something to say." Here's another photo taken yesterday:

Update: Our neighbor Cody, who is in 2nd grade, offered to shovel our driveway for $10. He's saving to buy an Xbox. I was in the shower, but K told me. So a little later I looked out and he'd shoveled our steps and a shovel-wide path 3/4 of the way down the driveway, and he was sitting in the snowbank looking exhausted. Poor kid! It's heavy snow. He sat there, his cheeks red as his jacket, for about five minutes. Then he took a big handful of snow and cocked his head back and ate it. Then he got up and laid his shovel face down on the snowbank, got on top of it on all fours and rocked it back and forth. Then he sat again, ate some more snow, sat, then climbed down and started shoveling again. K came home from the grocery store and talked to him before she came in. She told him he could go home since the the plow was on its way.
Poor Cody! I hope he got hot chocolate when he arrived home.
I can vouch for the heaviness of the snow. We got "only" about an inch here...but it kept sticking to the snow-brush bristles when I cleaned my car & to the shovel when I cleared the walkway.
Hmmm, maybe *I* deserve some hot chocolate...

Oh what beautiful photos of the snow and countryside! When we get any here in Vancouver it's always wet and heavy, often breaking branches off trees. heavy work shoveling too! I remember Klister from the days when we used wood skis!

It would be great to look out the window and see that much snow once.

Lorianne: We all deserve hot chocolate.
Marja-Leena: My skis aren't wood, but I do have to wax them. The couple of times I tried waxless I found they slipped too much. There's also something about waxing one's skis before going out - purist!
Dave: Gladly send you some. ;-)
Alyssa: 7-year-old kids?? Anyway, I thought it was pretty enterprising of Cody - I rarely see kids do these sorts of things anymore. Maybe their parents already give them everything they want.
Keith: "once" is the key word! Every day for months on end is another story!

MB: Isn't the horse a beauty? There are two, but I couldn't get them in a shot together where they looked good.
Heather: Welcome to blogs and blogging, then! Thanks for your comments. Glad you liked the pics. Be careful - you'll be starting a blog yourself before long if you keep reading them!
