The trip is all booked - flight and accommodations. I called the B&B in San Miguel yesterday and had a halting conversation in a mix of Spanish and English, but I do believe I reserved a room for 10 days. Clearly I need to spend some quality time over the next two months practicing my Spanish. I've not had a conversation en español since I was in Mexico last year, and we spoke Spanish every day and sometimes all day, for two weeks. It'll come back to me. I'll have a couple of days there alone before Jodi shows up, then we'll both be in San Miguel and afterward travel to Morelia for a couple of days, with a side trip, if it works out, to see the monarch butterflies. I'm looking forward to it and will no doubt enjoy it immensely, after I ratchet down the anxiety. God I do love to travel, but it creates major anxiety for me in the anticipation stage and in the initial period of getting my bearings. (Heh, same exact thing happens with dating, which is no doubt doubling my anxiety quotient right now.) Once I get past these staticky stations on the dial, sweet music floods in.
Como se dice "woohoo" in español?
(sorry, I can't type upside down question mark!)

Se dice "tequila" no? Which reminds me, perhaps I need to practice my margarita swilling as well. I noticed last year that my Spanish improves considerably with optimum margarita consumption. (The key word being "optimum".)

I was thinking of all that practice you got in Northampton searching for the perfect margarita. All your adventures--from the internet dating to the trip to Mexico sound wonderful. Can I live vicarioiusly through you?

Neat! I'm so glad it worked out. And the monarch butterflies sound like an awesome thing to see!

Gee, I thought I was the only one who gets anxious and fretful planning trips, doing packing lists, leaving house and garden in order with watering instructions etc. so that I'm exhausted before I leave!! Even organizing our recent short trip to the westcoast with all the food I had to take along for four...!!
Anyway, you will have a great time when you get there!!

Great! Like you, I'm worst just before a trip. But once I depart I find I relax pretty quickly.

Patry: Maybe we can exchange vicarious lives for awhile! I'll take the stable loving relationship for awhile and you can have all the fly-by-nights. The Mexico trip I'll keep!
Thanks, Cathy! I'm sure I will.
Ana: Yes, I'm hoping we can see them - it sounds easy to arrange once we're in Morelia. I'll bring back photos if I can.
Marja-Leena: Oh yeah, I have insomnia now and the trip is two months away! But yes, I'll relax once I'm there a day or so and it'll be fun.
Kurt: It'll take me a bit longer given the language challenge, but since I've been to San Miguel before I'll feel comfortable there pretty quickly.

I do believe I reserved
Oh, that made me laugh! I sympathize, I do, I do. Furthermore, I have every confidence that a woman of your wordy (not to mention worldly) wisdom will recoup her linguistic facility very quickly! But I understand the anxiety it creates along the way.
"Woohoo" significa "tequila" o puede ser que "tequila" significa "woohoo" - no importa! Se importa disfrutarse con woohoo y tequila - con viaje, espanol y mariposas - todos! This is so exciting!

Well, if you don't post for awhile, your friends here can get the news they need on the weather report.

Very happy to read you decided to take a bite of your favorite soul food! Now you have something sweet to look forward to...and some time to practice your tequila management!

Gracias, MB. I'm not sure if the butterflies will still be there, so that may not work out. But there's plenty to see and do. Sin duda voy a disfrutarlo todo.
Peter: Exactly!
Christine: Yes, a heaping helping. I am looking forward to it. And will keep you all posted when I have time to drop into the internet cafes.
