I am seriously unable to keep up here at the blog. Full-time very consuming work, commuting, away every weekend, and just joined a gym to get off my butt 2-3 hrs per week.
Stupid freelance project from well over a year ago keeps rearing its ugly head for bits and pieces of evening work. Never mind trying to make a decent dinner and never mind laundry and keeping the house minimally clean. Oh and doing my taxes after last year's partial freelance partial FT job partial-year rental income and the condo sale.
So anyway, that's why I haven't been around here. But I did get out for a nice 2-hour lunch with a few old and dear friends on Wednesday for our friend M's birthday at the wonderful Gustazo Cuban Cuban cafe. We had the place to ourselves as it was a quiet day there. The food was delicious. We all had the Cuban chicken soup of the day and fabulous salads. And desserts - flan and chocolate mousse.
Meanwhile, spring is finally starting to arrive, though a week ago today it was sleeting outside my window at work. Last weekend we found that they were renovating the lagoon in the Public Garden, preparing to open sometime early this month they say. Crocuses are coming up amid the debris of dead leaves, flat brown grass, and leftover road sand and salt. I saw an orange-needled Christmas tree lying beside the road the other day on a walk, and here and there a withered wreath still hanging on a door. But the light lingers longer and the days are slowly warming. We are overdue.
