As a friend of mine commented, "Magnolias blooming on Comm Ave is my favorite half-hour in Boston!" Their stay is certainly the most fleeting of the spring blossoms, but oh what a spectacle when they are in full bloom.
I missed their half-hour of full bloom this year, but caught just either side, which was still lovely. No doubt they have mostly fallen by now, making way for the flowering dogwoods and cherries and pears before they all go green for the summer.
Hard to imagine summer right now after a week of chilly drizzle. The weekend looks to be warmer, though with a chance of passing rain bursts. We'll take the warmth. Tomorrow is the first of May. Enough of April showers -- bring on the May flowers.
