Bright August sunshine without the usual attendant humidity - both weekend days. We enjoyed it mostly as background to sofa shopping and more apartment measuring all day Saturday, walking in the city to a couple of local furniture stores before getting in the car for an excursion out to Big Box Store land Saturday evening.
Goldilocks would have appreciated all the too big, too small, too not quite rights. D was rather set on a big shiny leather couch for his man cave, but I had, well, not quite nightmares about it in the middle of the night, its cold hard surface and my increasing desire to stay home in my own apartment to avoid the beast. D graciously relented, but it turns out it wouldn't have fit through the door anyway - the narrowest threshhold being 28 inches, which we finally thought to measure on Sunday afternoon. Well, that did narrow down the choices considerably. Aside from an Ikea unit in a flat box, there were a couple of suitable options at Crate & Barrel, which was having a 15% off sale on sofas along with the state tax-free weekend. Decision made, credit card produced and delivery date set, we managed to take a short walk down to the Public Garden and back before getting back in the car to go load up on boxes and packing materials.
And now it's Monday and the start of another busy work week. Next weekend will involve packing, and the following I imagine will be filled with shopping for drapes and other accoutrements after the move. I can only hope September offers an extended summer.
